No such luck. It’s ok though, I got very little sleep on my overnight flight, and I was pretty happy not to be feeling pressured to go sightseeing.
My entire gym experience here was a million times better than my last trip to the gym both because of how ordinary it was and because my attempt at running went much more smoothly.
It gave me a bit of confidence that I might be able to complete running workouts as needed, at least for a few more weeks anyway. Being able to run a little bit also made me feel immensely better about the quality of my bike rides lately. A huge deal for me since I have a history of not considering bike rides to be real workouts.
I did a warm up on the elliptical, then hopped onto the treadmill for 4 miles plus a walking cool down for a total of 4.25 miles. Not bad compared to the miserable run that I did last weekend.
The fine print: I had to do intervals in order to make it through all four miles. 2-5 minutes running/1 minute walking, depending on how I felt. Who am I? As recently as last winter I would have quit running and tried again another day if I was struggling that badly. Today I’ll happily take it.
I should really start working out in black shirts only. My sweatiness in light grey emphasizes my chunky look. Nice.
On a more positive note, I think my foot might really be better. For the first time in recent memory it was truly pain free both during and after my run.
