Run: July 10-16

Over the past few weeks our impending move to India has been a huge pain in the neck and a big time emotional roller coaster. I suppose that the pain in the neck part is to be expected with any move.

The wildly fluctuating emotions are probably normal but mine are much different from what I expected. I thought that I might be sad on some level about leaving, but I’m not at all. I’m super excited about it. Don’t get me wrong, I will miss people, but it isn’t like I’m leaving forever. Plus, I seem to do most of my communication with my family and over the phone or computer anyway…no real change there.

The emotional drain has come from unexpected sources like our relocation company, the visa application process, and an endless list of people to call, things to do, and things to cancel. My latest beef was in the things to cancel category. The offender: my local gym. You know, the one that I have quit once (now twice) in the past 3 years out of frustration. This time around they did not want to cancel my membership because it was not a permanent relocation. For serious? Thankfully the gym contract does not stipulate a minimum move duration for members to cancel without penalty. Instead they wanted me to pay a maintenance fee until we get back. Um, yeah, no thanks.

Next up was, until yesterday, the Indian Consulate’s visa outsourcing service. Disorganization at it’s finest, although I have to say that they did impress me by coming through with my same day visa. Hallelujah!

You know what that means! That’s right! We are enroute to India!

Sunday: rest…massive packing effort
Monday: 3 mile run…fastest since my return to running, still SUPER slow…I am supposed to build my speed gradually so that I don’t reinjure myself
Tuesday: 3 mile run – easy, hah, my easy pace is pretty much a brisk walk
Wednesday: 3 mile walk… It was really difficult not to run for the sake of time if nothing else, but I decided to rein myself in, not run four days in a row, and hopefully remain uninjured.
Thursday: 3 mile run
Friday: rest
Saturday: rest

Running July Total: 17.5
Running 2011 Total: 342.77
Miles on Shoes: 248.96
Miles on New Shoes: 30.31
Miles on Black Shoes: 32.5

Cycling July Total: 25 (measurable)
Cycling 2011 Total: 755.94 (measurable)
